On Sunday, March 3rd, ShizAJET hosted an event for JETs from all over Block 4 (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Yamanashi, Chiba). We traveled to the small town of Kawazu for the Kawazu-zakura festival. Our group ate delicious festival food as we walked the crowded streets and marveled at the resolute flowers – still vibrant and beautiful even against the austere gray of overcast weather.
Afterwards, we hiked the Kawazu Nanadaru Falls and saw the seven famous waterfalls. The pitter patter of freshly falling rain followed us all through the trail, making the hike come alive with the sounds of rushing waterfalls and the smells of damp earth.
And finally, we all returned to Mishima station for a wonderful dinner.
It rained on the day of the excursion, but it did little to dampen our spirits. Instead, it gave a rain-slick and moody vibe to our journey up and around Kawazu Nanadru Falls. It was a great time meeting with other JETs from Block 4 and we here at ShizAJET are looking forward to many more Block 4 events in the future.
As always –
stay dry, Shizuoka
